This first plug-in lets you have video chat sessions while you use Gmail, iGoogle, Orkut and on Chrome OS devices. It works on both PCs and Mac computers. Once you download the plug-in you don't have anything additional to do as the voice and video chat features will work right from inside your browser.
You need a webcam to broadcast yourself using the Google voice and video puglin. If you don't have a webcam you can still use the plugin to watch your friends on video and simply have a voice or text chat with them.
The Google voice and video plugin lets you chat with very high quality audio and video. Once the plugin is install there is not much more that you need to do. Because it works inside your browser you can use this plugin with major operating systems Windows, Mac or Linux.
2-Download the Google Talk software
This little software allows you to log in and chat with all of your Google contacts from your desktop. You can also use the Google talk software to send and receive files. Google talk software works only on PC, Mac computers are not supported.
Google talk lets you text chat by sending and receiving instant messages and posting status updates. You can exchange pictures and video files as well.
You can make free PC-to-PC voice calls to your friends and family if they use the software as well. You can also hold a voice chat conference by having more than one people join you in a voice chat at one. Additionally you can use this software to have voice chats from within Gmail.
3-Use Google+ Hangouts
To use Hangouts you first need to join Google+ which is Google's very own social network. If you already have Google account either through Gmail or any other Google service you can simply to to Google+ and join.
One of the best and most convenient way to use Google+ Hangouts is by downloading the app to your phone. There are two apps available one for the iPhone and another one for Android phones, BlackBerry phones are unfortunately not supported at this time. You can also use Google+ Hangouts on your iPad and Android powered tablets.
You can of course use Google+ Hangouts on your computer. You can join a hangout and have a group cam session with up to 10 people. You can either hold a private hangout with friends that you invite to join or you can create a public hangout where anybody can join and chat with you with video.
Google+ Hangouts let you share your screen and documents from Google Docs. You can therefore use it if you want to collaborate with team members on the same project or document. By using Google Docs app within your hangout yo can share presentations, documents and diagrams.
Google+ Hangout lets you add people to the conversation even if they are not signed into Google+ or even in front of a computer or using a smart phone because you can call a phone number from within a Hangout. Calling a US or Canada phone number is free you will however need to pay a small free to call an international number.
You can also use a Hangout simply to broadcast yourself to the world or anybody interested in watching you live online. All you nee to do is enable Hangout on Air and your live video stream will be added to your Google+ profile and your YouTube channel and/or your homepage and anybody who visits them will be able to watch your live broadcast. Throughout the live broadcast you can look at the statistics and see how many people are watching you. After your live show is over you will have the recording of your broadcast uploaded to your YouTube channel and posted as a video post on your Google+ profile.
The Google+ Hangout app lets you chat face to face with your friends and family directly from your mobile phone. The Google+ app also lets you upload photos and videos from your phone directly to your photo album hosted by Google.
You can apps to your Hangout for example you can add a YouTube app to watch YouTube clips while you're inside your Hangout or you can play games with your friends.
