How to find Philippines chat rooms on Yahoo?

A number of readers asked me repeatedly to show them how to find the Philippines chat rooms on Yahoo! chat. I finally found time to put together this little guide to show everybody how to easily find and join any one of them in six simple steps.

Step 1: Sign into Yahoo! messenger

Enter you ID and password to sign in.



Step 2: Find the Yahoo! Chat entry under Messenger>Yahoo!Chat>Join a Room

Go in the Messenger menu and find the Yahoo chat entry.


Step 3: Expand the Regional chat rooms list

Locate the Regional category and expand it by clicking on the little box with the croos in its center.

Step 4: Expand the Philippines chat rooms list

Locate the Philippines category and click to select it wait for the list of Philippines chat room groups to load.

Step 5: Choose the room with the most people

Locate and expand your preferred Philippines chatroom group. Select your desired group from the list and double click to enter -alternatively you can simply click on the room and then click on the Go to Room button at the bottom on the window-.

Step 6: Enter the word verification [captcha]

Enter the words that show up in the white box and click the Submit button.

Step 7: Enjoy chatting with random strangers in the Philippines

Enjoy your time chatting with other Yahoo users inside the Philippines chat room!

Didn't I promise you this would be simple? As you can see finding and entering the chat rooms in the Philippines on Yahoo chat is extremely easy.

If you click on Philippines you will see a list of chat room groups for that country. There are Philippines room intended for general Philippines chat, for people anywhere in the country or Filipinos outside of the country or anybody interested in the Philippines in general and/or its People.

You will also find more specific rooms like: Ceby Tambayan, Luzon, Metro manila Barkada, Mindanao, and Overseas Filipino Workers Zone. As you can see not all the rooms are based on geography but there is a broad choice as each of the room groups I just listed have a number of individual rooms under them where people are actively talking.

Take part in the chats going on inside the room. It's a good way to get notice. Don't spend all your time sending private messages to random users, trust me, it's usually very annoying when you are on the receiving end of such messages. While you are free to chat privately with anybody in Yahoo! chat the other users are also free to ignore your request. In fact most people ignore private messages from users not on their friend list, keep that in mind the next time you get impatient waiting for a reply from a stranger on Yahoo chat.

Do not hesitate to ignore trolls. Many people enter random rooms just to test and see what it takes for Yahoo to boot them out of the rooms. Sometimes they just copy and paste the same thing over and over again or they use this extra large font that takes up all the screen. You will also encounter a number of bots asking you to click on links or posting random things that have no sense with the ultimate goal of having you chat with them so they can lure you to some questionable web sites. Ignore those users as soon as you spot them, this will allow you to enjoy your chat session much more than you ever had. In Yahoo chat ignoring other users is very easy all you have to do is right click on that user ID and hit ignore.

Enable audio. You can hear if there are interesting conversations going on and you can use your microphone to chime in. some users choose to play songs in the audio chat. If your taste in music is very different from theirs you might consider ignoring them. Voice chat inside Yahoo chat rooms can be a lot of fun if you are lucky enough to find the right people on there at the right time.

Use your web cam. If you really hit if off with someone you can decide to take it out of the room by sending each other private messages and having a fun video chat session. You can know approximately how many people have enabled their video cam in a chat room, their user icon shows up inside what looks like an old fashion television set with the antennas on top.

Don't give up if the first room you try is full and you can't get in or if nobody is talking. Simply try another Philippines room, you are lucky enough that there are at least a dozen free Philippines chat rooms to choose from.

The fine print

Yahoo Chat rooms are only available for users 18 and over only. If you are under 18 you will not have access to Yahoo chat rooms. Localized versions of Yahoo messenger do not always support Yahoo chat rooms. The US version of Yahoo messenger has chat room support, if you want to be sure to access them you might want to use the US version of messenger instead of your country's version. I recommend using a secondary ID when you enter chat rooms. You don't necessarily need to have another Yahoo account you can simply create another ID for the same account and use that when you chat. Be smart, be safe and have fun chatting. Expect to find a lot of people who are no Filipinos in the Philippines chat rooms in fact many of them will have nothing to do with Philippines at all but it is a good place to start.
