Another great feature of this service is that the developers of this application stated that it will be an open source application which will enable other mobile and cell phones makers to make their devices compatible with Facetime for better video and voice quality between people who own different types of mobile devices.

One of the major drawbacks of Facetime is that it requires faster Wi-Fi services otherwise the application will not work properly. Indeed if your Wi-Fi signal is weak or if the internet connection itself is not fast enough you will not only have a low video quality but you voice will not transmit well either. In order to realize its complete potential Apple will have to make it available on 3G or 4G connections. The company is planning to launch these services on 3G services in the near future.

Facetime is a new application and overtime it will be used by lots of people. Video calling has reduced the distance between people who live apart just like planes did when they were first invented. These technologies bring families closer as they can now talk to their loved ones from faraway places from virtually anywhere. Facetime is a recent addition to the large number of applications out there that allow people to chat with each other on camera for free.
