Omegle/Chatroulette video chat

In the world of free chat sites two sites Omegle.com and Chatroulette.com, both less than two years old are allowing people of all ages from all over the world to meet online and talk.

How to use Omegle? It's very simple to use as it works right inside your browser, you will not need to download any software.

1- Go to the web site Omeble.com
2- Click on either the Text or Video button and your chat session will open

Omegle will search for a Stranger to pair you with so you can start chatting. The rest is up to you.

Omegle was launched in March 2009 (according to Wikipedia). It originally allowed two people paired randomly to have a text chat conversation. Think of it as an instant messaging tool where the other people you are having one-on-one conversations with are strangers you have never met instead of being friends that you know.

When you start using Omegle you are labeled as "You" and the person you are chatting with is labeled as "Stranger".

Omegle claims to provide an anonymous chatting experience but do not take their word for it. You are not anonymous, with enough effort the Stranger you are talking to could find out who you are so don't do anything stupid on those chats and do not reveal personal information unless you do not mind Strangers knowing your true identity.

Recently Omegle has introduced Video chat which makes it more similar to Chatroulette which I will describe shortly.

If you have an iPhone you can download the Omegle iPhone App for the App Store and chat using Omegle on your iPhone.

When you are in text chat you can choose to switch to video chat. At the end of your session you can choose to share your chat log on Facebook or download it to your computer.

At anytime you may choose to disconnect from the conversation. Omegle will ask you to confirm saying "Really" click if you really want to disconnect and find another stranger to chat with.

Just like Omegle, Chatroulette requires no registration and no download. It does not have age restrictions either. Technically you could meet babies on this site but I hope nobody is putting their baby on there.

To use Chatroulette simply go on chatroulette.com. It will activate your web cam. Your flash player will prompt you to allow access to your camera and microphone. Chatroulette is first and foremost a video chat site, however it does link to a dating site as well.

If you have any video chat experience you know what most chatters broadcast and that's the downside of Chatroulette, there are lots and lots of men/boys showing/touching their private parts on there and since you are paired with a stranger randomly chances are you will come across one of those as you wander from stranger to stranger.
