You already know that Yahoo Chat has many free chat rooms available, many of them are local chat rooms, which means that they are aimed at people in specific locations in many countries around the world. Most of the English speaking countries are included so are all the biggest countries. I can't tell you exactly which criteria is used by Yahoo to select which country to include or not but I know that most of you reading this will find your own country. To find your country you need to load the room category list. Look for Regional in the list. There is one list of countries that is immediately visible when you click on Regional there is also another list of countries that is under Regional, you need to expand the Regional directory to see those countries. Once you have found a country you will find many rooms for that country including rooms for States, Cities, etc , within that country.Yes I know so many people are just not aware of this but it is that simple. If you are lucky enough to have your country listed in the Regional category of Yahoo Chat rooms you can enjoy regional chat with people near you for free. The other good news about those rooms is that unlike some other rooms on Yahoo Chat, they have relatively few bots to bother you. Notice I did not say that there weren't any bots in those rooms but just that they are not all over the place, as I said in my Yahoo Chat Rooms review, the Romance rooms are the ones most affected by the bot invasion.
Some of you might be thinking, "of all the other free chat rooms available online why am I telling you about the Yahoo chat rooms and not chat rooms from other sites?". The reason is simple, Yahoo has so many members from so many countries that you are more likely to find the free local chat rooms that fit you at Yahoo than you do at another site. Yahoo reaches to a broader range of people than most other sites do. Yahoo has local chat rooms for people in the UK, in the USA, in Australia, in India, in Sri Lanka, in the Philippines, or even better, chat rooms for people in San Francisco, Detroit, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Atlanta, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Calcutta, Chennai, Delhi, Hong Kong etc... Yes, I bet you did not know you could find all those rooms on Yahoo Chat. In fact you will find not one but many rooms for each one of those places.
A few important details to remember, Yahoo Chat rooms are available only for people 18 and over, in other words, they are for adults only. Yahoo verifies the age of its users with the information provided at the creation of the account to know whether the user is 18+. To be able to access the Free yahoo Chat rooms you need not only to have a Yahoo account but you also need to install Yahoo messenger which you will use to enter the chat. You can not access Yahoo chat on the web, they used to have a java version that was web-accessible but it is no longer available.
What's the catch? I hear you ask. Well, this nice local chat might not be what you're looking for and you might have to look around a few rooms before you find other people in your area that you connect with. You might not enjoy changing rooms in Yahoo chat, you might find it inconvenient. Well what can I say, you don't find all in one place that's why I like chatting in many different rooms and not just one.
